So after Hiroshima and Miyajima, my parents and I stayed in Nara for 4 days. Nara is a small city in Kansai where I work. It's home to hundreds of deer and many National Treasures. Nara is the oldest capital of Japan and so has much historical value. Due to it's size and 'county-ish' feel, it was my parents Favourite part of the trip. And their love for it made me appreciate Nara even more.
The sights I took them to are some of my favourite. Todaiji Temple, Kasuga Shrine, Sagi-ike Pond, Kofukuji Temple, and of course we did lots of shopping in Nara City. We also went to Nara-Machi (the oldest part of Nara...called Nara-Town) and Gangoji Temple where there are roof tiles that are 1400 years old.
Here is a picture of Mom and Dad at the first gate to Todaiji, of course with the deer. :)
